Dear International Students,
First of all, we would like to welcome you to Tohoku University.
We are Tohoku University Foreign Students Association (TUFSA), a student-run organization with the aim to support international students during their stay in Sendai as well as to enhance intercultural exchange between international and local students. We have been organizing cultural and social projects for more than 50 years and we are looking forward to becoming a part of your study time in Sendai.
We have several programs through which hopefully your new life in Japan will be more enjoyable and we’d like to invite you to get the most out of them:
1. Buddy Program
Life is better with friends, and that’s exactly what the Buddy Program is all about! International students who are interested in joining this program will be matched with local students according to their applications.
The Buddy program will give you the chance to meet people, improve your language skills and spend a great time at Tohoku University. Everybody is welcome to participate in the project, please fill in our application form before May 1st: here.
We run a monthly Newsletter that will keep you updated on what’s going on in Sendai. Sign up here.
3. Date Masamune
Before you even come to Japan we’ll be opening up online orientation sessions using Google Hangouts. So whether you have last-minute questions on what to pack or if you’re nearly breaking down with excitement, horror, or happiness we’re there to listen! The next Date Masamune will be organized in summer.
We also organize other cultural activities, such as movie nights, cultural evenings, and study trips, enough to keep you entertained all year! The biggest event is the Tohoku University International Festival, which will be held on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2022. Find out how you can get involved here.
To find out about our other activities, follow us on Facebook.
We hope to see you soon!
