Tohoku University International Festival will come again this year. It will be held on July 1st, 2018.

The aim of this event is to cultivate cordial relations between international students and local people, and celebrate the wonderful diversity realizing the multitude of common values they share.

TUFSA is proud to introduce this year festival’s theme: ”Be happy, be yourself”. This theme is brought to highlight more on the happiness and joy that the festival can bring to all visitors

This year's main attractions

Food stalls

There will be 20 Food Stalls from different countries this year! You can enjoy wonderful dishes from not only familiar countries such as China or Taiwan, but also far away lands, such as Poland, Nigeria or Bangladesh. Buy a food ticket (3 coupons for 3 different dishes) and find yourself discover new cuisines! This year we have introduced a Food Court for the first time so that you can enjoy stage entertainment while indulging in delicious food!

Interactive Corner

17 booths will be available in the interactive corner where you can join in a learning experience. For example, you can experience African and American cultures through games and music. Be sure to note that Japanese culture will be shared too with Kimono fitting or Shodo! You may also learn more about the attractions of Miyagi prefecture by visiting the sightseeing PR booth. Organizers will sell Tohoku University hoodies, TUIF T-shirts and some other merchandise near the main stage, so please feel free to visit us!

Stage

We have prepared two stages, the Global Stage (open air) and Happy Stage (Mongolian yurt), to bring you even more joy this year! You can find the Happy stage in the picnic zone which is clearly indicated on the venue map. Performances from many different countries (Indonesia, USA, Philippine, Bangladesh, South Africa etc.)  will be showcased on these stages, so we hope you will look forward to the show! In addition to this, the president of Tohoku University will be giving a speech, be sure not to miss it!

Fashion Show

This year the Fashion Show is held as well! It will be a unique occasion for you to see traditional clothes from various countries at one time. During the Kids Fashion show, you will have the opportunity to admire our youngest and most cute models. A first for our festival, we have invited special guests to form a jury who will crown Ms & Mr International Festival!

Mascot Naming Contest

Our TUIF mascot, who first appeared on our poster several years ago, does not have a name! So this year we will be giving it one and it will be decided at this festival! From all of the submissions to our online competition, we will narrow down the choices to just 3, and make a final vote on the day! Your vote may determine the Tohoku University International Festival's mascot name!

Lucky Draw

We will hold a Lucky Draw using the serial number attached to the Food Ticket. 1st prize is a pair of tickets with open date to Disneyland! And there are plenty of luxurious prizes such as an Amazon Kindle and Rakuten Eagles' merchandise! As you need to put the number in the submission box, do not forget to do so when you enter the venue! Please note that the Lucky Draw will be held on Stage around 16:00, so plan accordingly.

As you can see, the biggest international event in Tohoku region, Tohoku University International Festival, provides plenty of different activities for you to experience!!

We are looking forward to seeing you at the festival.
